Revolvers – Apocalypse Surfin’ (2010)

Apocalypse Surfin’ is available on 180 gram vinyl to be played at 33 rpm. The initial pressing was limited to a run of 500 copies and includes a download card for those after the digital/MP3 thing. As of August 2011, about half of the original pressing is left for purchase.
Initially independently released in 2009 on CD, Toronto’s local psychsters and music critics immediately took notice of Apocalypse Surfin’ for its tribal-like harmonies, laid-back vibe and a selection of vintage trappings. NOW Magazine immediately listed the release as “one of the best of the year”.
Optical Sounds stepped up and, with the urging of Toronto booker (and underground legend) Dan Burke, a relationship was forged and the acclaimed release was pressed on to vinyl and re-released in late 2010.
The positive feedback expanded to an international level with Chybucca Sounds, in particular, claiming that, “so authentic is this 11-track debut, there are times when you need to pause and check that this really isn’t a forgotten gem from 1967.”
