The Disraelis – Demonstration (2008)

Demonstration (along with The Hoa Hoa’s’ Sonic Bloom) was the first release for Optical Sounds in July 2008. This 5-track CD had a limited printing and there are only a handful of copies left for purchase. The release was highly anticipated by fans and critics alike at the time as The Disraelis were a mainstay in the gritty Toronto underground scene led and championed by legendary Toronto booker Dan Burke.
There’s just enough psychedelic haze to have the band lumped in with the like of The Hoa Hoa’s, however what sets these guys apart is the Smiths/Stone Roses-style guitar and a deadpan vocal delivery. At one point, many within the scene tabbed these guys for stardom.
However, time, money and patience soon grew short amongst the band members and the outfit officially called it quits about a year after Demonstration was released. Colin and Dave have since gone on to start The Holiday Crowd while Cameron insists The Disraelis are not dead and suggests new music is on its way.
